YOUTH DEVELOPMENT COALITION
Vision: Our vision is to create a healthy environment for youth to become productive citizens. Mission: Our mission is to work together in changing community attitudes and providing support, assistance, and guidance needed to prevent risky behaviors among all youth in Chesterfield County.
CHAIRPERSON:
MEETINGS: The Youth Development Coalition meets the third Tuesday of every month at 3:30 in the Chesterfield County Department of Social Services’ Training Room located in the town of Chesterfield.
The Chesterfield County Youth Development Coalition was formed from two previous town based coalitions in Cheraw and Pageland. The Coalition is a former Drug Free Communities grantee.
ACTIVITIES: All activities are chosen based on a logic model using evidence-based programs and environmental strategies that decrease risk factors and increase protective factors for positive youth development.
- Student Risk Behavior Annual Survey of all 3rd-12th students
- Parenting Adolescents Wisely (PAW)
- September – Dinner Makes A difference – Family Day
- School Based Mental Health Services in partnership with three provider agencies
- School safety research project
- Alcohol Compliance Checks & RX Take Back Days in partnership with the Sheriff’s Office
- Marijuana: #StopthePot Art Contest and Calendar
- STOP Underage Drinking Activities
- Public Awareness Activities including:
- Monthly Newsletters
